MY STORY

I’m a Canadian writer and oral historian based in Toronto and the UK. I grew up in Toronto to Jewish parents whose families came from pre-war Poland and Lithuania. I began by interviewing family members and compiling a book of their stories. I then began to do this professionally, and have been working as a freelance oral historian for over 15 years, mainly in the UK. I have interviewed people all over the world from Ireland to Australia, on topics as diverse as clay mining and timber production, to wartime experiences and secterian Troubles. Much of this matieral has been compiled in publications I have either written or contributed to.

I have also worked as an English language teacher and have taught English in Canada, England, Northern Ireland and Poland. I speak fairly fluent Hebrew as well as Italian and French at more elementary levels.

From my travels, I have met so many interesting people and heard fascinating stories, many which family members feel will be lost. I would like to bridge the gap and ensure these stories remain recorded for posterity.
